All motor sports events organized , sanctioned or authorized by the
Automobile and Touring Club for UAE (ATCUAE) are run in accordance to FIA regulations. As the motor sport National Sporting Authority (ASN) recognized by FIA, the club has the authority to approve or disapprove any motor sports organized in the UAE.

There are many national rallies, karting races, desert safaris, fun drives being held  in the UAE with the authorization of the ATCUAE every year, but the main rallies organized by the ATCUAE are the UAE International Rally and the Dubai International Rally.

The first UAE International Rally was held on the 9th and 10th of march, thus taking the spot of the first round of the FIA Middle East Championship. Fast, sandy and rugged desert tracks constituted the terrain of this rally. This rally has also had a special category for women drivers.

The first UAE International Rally proved to be a resounding success to the organizers and a welcome addition  the rounds of  the FIA - Middle East Championship for the competitors. Since then the UAE International Rally has been held every year.

The Dubai International Rally was being held in Dubai from the mid 80's, but the ATCUAE took over the task of organizing the rally from 1997.The Dubai International Rally is the final round of the FIA Middle East Championship and decides the champion of this championship

The popularity of the UAE and the Dubai international rallies is such that there are more and more competitors from many countries participating each year. Even though the competitors are increasing, the safety is not compromised. All the rally cars are strictly scrutinized for safety specifications put forward by the FIA, the international governing body of the motor sports.
